According to reports, Catanduanes
Representative Cesar V. Sarmiento said that the achievement of the CSC
engineering graduates in the recent board examination is proof that CSC merits
an upgrade in school status so as it can be provided by the government with
more funding.
“The 1-2-3 of the three students,
all of them from humble family backgrounds, has cheered the whole province and
stirred local scholastic interest and curiosity about CSC,” Sarmiento reportedly
said.
As noted, the bill filed by
Sarmiento, House Bill No. 4170, last February 11, 2010 pushing for the
conversion of CSC to a state university was approved on third and final reading
by the House of Representatives last March.
The Civil Engineer Licensure
Examination was given by the Board of Civil Engineering in the cities of Manila, Baguio,
Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legazpi and Tacloban last November 19-20, 2011.
